We’re Uplifts, and we’ve got lifts in our DNA. Led by Sam Stannah, a member of the 6th Generation of the Stannah family who still own and run Stannah, Uplifts was founded to mark a new chapter in the companies history, and to launch a new innovation, the Uplifts range of homelifts, to our customers around the world.

Lifts are in our DNA
We've been doing this a long time. In 1867, Joseph Stannah (Uplifts CEO Sam's great, great, great grandfather) founded Stannah Ltd, and registered his first patents for lift safety gears and hoists.
Moving on up
In 1975, Stannah launched the product that made us famous, the stairlift. Production began at our factories in Tiverton Street, London and later moved to Andover, Hampshire, where the Uplifts homelifts are made today.
New generation, new innovation
Almost 50 years after the introduction of the stairlift to our business, Sam launched Uplifts, Stannah's dedicated homelift company, determined to bring the same passion and innovation to the homelift industry as his father's, and his grandfather's generation have done with stairlifts.
A global business
With sales in over 40 countries, we’re always investing in premises to support our future. We’ve built a strong network of service branches outside London, manufacturing has extended to Tyneside, and we have a growing presence overseas.
Leading the way
As we look to the future, the sixth generation of the Stannah family is ready to step into a leadership role. Sam Stannah, our CEO, hopes to build on our legacy and is focused on building the Uplifts brand.
